Context

Common Ground is an online platform designed specifically for independent record stores. It streamlines shop transactions by enabling easy barcode or catalog lookup for selling vinyl records and merchandise online. Additionally, it keeps inventories up-to-date and synchronized across multiple sales channels, including Discogs.

Goals

To develop a custom Point of Sale (POS) system for iOS devices (iPads and iPhones) featuring an intuitive UX/UI, enabling sellers—whether in a record store or a mobile business—to accept direct card payments and complete customer checkouts without relying on external payment providers.

The Point of Sale (POS) system includes cash register software and an Electronic Payment Terminal (EPT) integrated with Common Ground (CG) to secure credit card transactions. The goal of this survey was to understand user needs and preferences regarding the use of POS terminals, EPTs, phones, and tablets.
